SsangYong Chairman W to sell for 1 mln yuan in China

Shanghai, May 5 (Gasgoo.com) SsangYong Chairman W, which already unveiled in China at the 2008 Beijing auto show, will be sold for around 1 million yuan ($143,123) in the Chinese market, reports Jinghua Newspaper today.

SsangYong Motor, a South Korean SUV maker 51% controlled by Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. (SAIC), will start to sell the imported units of this model in China very soon, a company senior official told the newspaper. 

In South Korea, the Chairman W starts at 59 million won ($59,000) for the model equipped with either a 3.6 or 5-liter gasoline engine and a 7-speed automatic transmission.

The lengthened version of Chairman W is powered by the Benz V8 XGi5000 engine, which is the largest domestic vehicle engine size in the country, offers 306 horse power and a flat torque that was not available in gasoline engines, ensuring optimal driving performance under any conditions.

SsangYong Motor said that the new sedan has reached world-class competitiveness to compete with world-class automobiles such as the Mercedes Benz S-Class, BMW 7-Series and Audi A8.
