Mazda RX-8 to be introduced in China this summer
Shanghai, May 5 (Gasgoo.com) Mazda RX-8, the most common street sports car in Need for Speed (a racing video game), displayed its distinctive style at the 2008 Beijing auto show and will be available in China this summer.
The four-door and four-seat designs, the unique Mazda rotary engine, and the safety performance of the vehicle body create peerless individuality of this sports car. The unique "freestyle" of RX-8 is the rear-hinged rear doors design and the absence of a center B-pillar. Meanwhile, RX-8 boasts both sports car's performance, and passenger vehicle's practicability.
The heart of the Mazda RX-8 is its 1.3-liter rotary engine called the Renesis, which generates an output of 173kw and maximum torque of 277 NM. Only from the released data can we know the Renesis can rival a 3.5L four-cylinder engine. RX-8 is also available as fitted with six-speed automatic transmission (A/T) with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters for high driving experience.
Yu Hongjiang, vice general manager of FAW Mazda Motor, said during the Beijing auto show that RX-8 will be introduced into the Chinese market this summer but its specific price has not been made public.
