Shanghai, May 5 (Gasgoo.com) Changan Mazda Motor Sales Company aims to sell over 110,000 cars in 2008 and 15,000 cars in 2010, says Minoru Fujihashi, general manager of the sales company.

To expand its sales in the fast-growing Chinese market, Changan Mazda's sales company, one of the two sales companies of Mazda Motor Corp. in China, pays much attention to its marketing strategy and sales network establishment. The one-year-old sales company has now signed contracts with about 70 dealerships in mainland China to facilitate and boost the sales of Changan Mazda's products.

In comparison with Chinese customers who think imported cars are better than China-made cars under the same brands, Minoru Fujihashi, who has worked over three years in FAW Mazda Motor Sales Co., Ltd. and then the Chongqing-based sales company, noted that imported cars target global demand and China-made cars target local demand.

Imported Mazda cars will attract some customers, which will not represent the mainstream trend; Changan Ford Mazda Automobile, a Chinese venture of the Japanese carmaker, will develop products in China, according to local needs. Mazda3, a high-performance compact sedan model, can perform like a medium-and high-grade sedan after catering for the needs of Chinese customers.

The Mazda2, a small and spunky fuel saver well received in China and other parts of the world, was named the "World Car of the Year" at the 2008 New York Auto Show. It is the first time that this award, which had favored luxury cars, has been given to a compact vehicle.

Chinese ventures of Mazda Motor Corp. are expected to sell 300,000 vehicles in China in 2010, and Changan Mazda will achieve at least half of this target, said Minoru Fujihashi, adding that the company aims to sell 110,000 vehicles this year.
