Mitsubishi to introduce seven vehicle models to China
Shanghai, May 6 (Gasgoo.com) Mitsubishi Motors displayed its high-performance version of the eighth-generation Lancer Evolution at the recent Beijing auto show. Mitsubishi will put seven vehicle models, including vehicles to be made locally, into the Chinese market till 2010 from now on, said Osamu Masuko, president of Mitsubishi Motors, during the Beijing auto show.
Lancer Evolution
Osamu Masuko said to the reporters that Mitsubishi Motors will help Southeast Motor to fulfill local production of the Mitsubishi MPV and meanwhile import new Lancer and Lancer Evolution. In addition, Mitsubishi will import Eclipse sports car from America. Southeast Motor will roll out a new Mitsubishi Lancer and deliver new Delica commercial cars into the Chinese market. In 2010, a small SUV by Mitsubishi Motors will also go on sale in China.
Sources said that Southeast Motor will produce Mitsubishi Zinger launched jointly by Mitsubishi Motor and Taiwan China Motor Bus.
Lancer was the most popular model in Mitsubishi history and now has expanded to the eighth generation. The eighth generation Lancer Evolution, debuted first in North America, is a dynamic car which can be powered by four kinds of oil engine (1.5L-2.4L) and mounted with five-speed manual transmission or CVT transmission. At the 2008 Beijing auto show, Mitsubishi Motors has displayed its high-performance version of the eighth generation Lancer Evolution.
The new Lancer to be made locally will cross the generation for upgrading from the current China-made version.
