Dongfeng Citroen exports 2.3 mln-euro auto parts in Q1
Shanghai, May 9 (Gasgoo.com) Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile, the French car maker's Chinese venture with Dongfeng Motor, earned a total of 2.3 million euros in its auto parts exports in the first quarter this year, a great growth year on year.
Since 1999, Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen has tried to boost the export of auto parts as an important strategy to explore the global market and to enhance the product quality and corporate image. By cooperating with PSA Peugeot Citroen the joint venture has expanded its business from the OEM to self-developed auto parts making, and thus has remarkably increased its export volume and revenue in recent years.
At first, Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen operated as an OEM of the French carmaker and exported the auto parts to the European market. In the three years from 1999 to 2001, when its experience and expertise built up, the company had made 90 million francs in auto-parts OEM and exports. Dongfeng Peugeot has expanded its business operation since 2003 to include auto parts sourcing in China for export.
When the Dongfeng Peugeot 307 and Dongfeng Citroen C-Triomphe sedans started production, the company independently developed the auto parts using the cutting-edge technologies, and this has contributed to its auto parts export growth.
Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen's export value of auto parts in 2002-2007 was 17 million euros, and thanks to its self-developed products, the export revenue in the first three months of 2008 gained great momentum, surging to 2.3 million euros.
