Shanghai, May 19 (Gasgoo.com) With an annual output capacity of 1.8 million units scheduled over the next five years, northeast China's Jilin province will possibly become China's largest auto production base by 2013, the provincial governor was quoted as saying on Sunday.

"Our provincial government will improve cooperations with FAW on issues such as resources planning, policy making, and R&D projects, and will focus on the development of high quality auto products with various specifications,” said Han Changfu, governor of Jilin Province.

Automobile industry is the mainstay industry of Jilin province. Its capital city Changchun currently owns around 320 auto and auto parts manufacturers, which create a total output value of 150 billion yuan ($21.5 billion) each year.
