Imported Audi A6 to be recalled for possible fuel leakage
Shanghai, May 19 (Gasgoo.com) FAW-Volkswagen Audi has announced that from May 30, 2008 it will recall the 335 imported A6 quattro and 307 A6 allroad sold between January 2002 and December 2005 in China's mainland market after the recall report is approved by China General Administration Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine. But the imported A6 4.2 quattro and A6 allroad 4.2 cars are not among the recall list.
Audi AG said through regular inspection on A6 quattro and A6 allroad manufactured between August 2001 and June 2005, it found their mouths of blow valves would crack and thus lead to fuel leakage in some situations because of aging plastic material in blow valve of fuel tank and force acting by equipment around. Though not having received any accident feedback due to this fault, Audi AG determined to recall all these cars to avoid the hidden problems. A6 4.2 quattro and A6 allroad 4.2 have no such problems.
The automaker said that Audi dealerships would inform the customers with their vehicles affected and repair the blow valve for free. Consumers can call the customer service hotline of FAW-Volkswagen at 0431-8599-0888 or 400-817-1888 and also can consult with the service hotline of Audi dealerships. For those unable to contact, it will be inspected strictly as the car enters service station for the first time.
