Saab crossover SUV and mini-car to hit China market
Shanghai, May 26 (Gasgoo.com) Swedish carmaker Saab Automobile is expected to introduce a Saab crossover SUV and a mini-car smaller than the Saab 9-3 to China in the near future, said Jan Ake Jonsson, Saab Auto Managing Director.
With the Saab 9-3 series and 9-5 series as its current major models, Saab is seeking the expansion of its auto portfolio, including cars smaller than the 9-3 models, as well as the popular crossover SUVs. The lineup of the Swedish automaker will be further expanded, according to Jonsson.
Jonsson said that the Saab 9-X concept car is an embryo of Saab's future cars, and this mini-car will contribute to the growth of the Saab brand in the global markets, especially the booming China market. The future crossover SUV of Saab will be the production SUV based on the Saab 9-4X concept car. The two cars will be launched in 2009. It's not decided yet when they will come to China, but it will be soon, added Jonsson.
Saan Auto has been promoting in Europe the BioPower technology, which uses the hybrid of spirit (85%) and gasoline (15%). As the world's first hybrid vehicle without fossil fuel emission, the Saab BioPower Hybrid Concept will be soon introduced to China after the Chinese government eases its related regulations.
