Poor sales urge Nissan to adjust imported models plan
Shanghai, June 3 (Gasgoo.com) Classic as it is, 350Z, a sports car under the Nissan brand only sold two units last year in China due to poor marketing. Now Nissan Motor is seeking to adjust the sales channel of its imported cars in the China market. Insiders of Nissan Motor said that due to poor sales of imported vehicles under Nissan brand, Nissan has started full adjustment of its sales channel and vehicle models.
Nissan now has only three imported models -- 350Z, FUGA and QUEST -- sold in China. With total sales volume of these imported models even lagging behind the late comer Infiniti, Nissan Motor decided to shift its sales focus. At present, Infiniti has become the top priority of Nissan Motor in China.
The imported models have long been bearing the responsibility of enlarging the products line and improving the brand position for Nissan Motor in China. Cefiro and X-Trail of Nissan brand both posted good sales before. However, with Teana made locally and Dongfeng Nissan entering the SUV market, Nissan-brand imported cars are faced with embarrassing competition from inside.
Currently, all the imported models under Nissan are sold by Dongfeng Motor, but due to poor marketing development, the sales slumped sharply. The classic sports car 350Z only sold two units last year. And the QUEST also had sluggish sales.
