Golf to replace Bora hatchback in China market

Shanghai, June 11 (Gasgoo.com) The low sales of Bora caused FAW VW to stop its production of this hatchback in early 2008. The Bora hatchback model is out of stock in Beijing and its future market niche will be filled in by the Golf hatchback. FAW VW will focus Golf as its priority product for China's hatchback market segment and will launch an all-new Golf model in future.

The Bora HS vehicles only sold a little more than 8,000 units in 2007. FAW has decided to remove its Bora HS from the production line and replace it with a new Golf edition -- a face-lifted Bora. As an attractive and sporty name, Golf is able to hold great appeal for customers and boost the model's sales. However, the Golf model has its much more merits of its own than the Bora hatchback.

Dealers in Beijing said that the carmaker originally planned to replace the Gold with the Bora hatchback, but in vain. The Bora hatchback has no clear market orientation and has a target consumer base quite different from that of Golf. Meanwhile, it also discredits the quality of Golf.

In the future, FAW VW will boost the Golf brand as one of its top priorities and use it to replace the Bora hatchback. Volkswagen's future six-generation Golf model will be introduced to China as well.
