China has 60 new PV models on sale in Jan-June
Shanghai, June 26 (Gasgoo.com) With the new Lavida by Shanghai Volkswagen launched on June 25, China has put 60 new passenger vehicle models on sale in the first half of this year, reported xinhuanet.com today.
According to statistics by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), 90 new vehicle models were launched nationally in 2007. However, by June 25, 2008, 59 China-made new vehicle models have been on sale in the first half of the year, most of which are new sedans except for several SUVs and MPVs. About one third are all-new models, while two thirds are either upgraded or re-modeled versions.
The all-new models include the 8th-generation Accord, new Teana, Roewe550, BYD F6, BYD F3R, Mercedes-Benz C230, Chrysler Sebring, Yaris, new Exelle, Changan Zhixiang, Changfeng Qi Ling CP1A , Dongfeng-Nissan Qashqai, Zhonghua Junjie FRV and MG 3SW. Around one fifth are own-brand models.
Chinese automakers have rolled out new vehicle models continually in order to build up competitiveness as the competition is more and more intense in China's auto market, said an industry expert of CAAM.
