A3 first, three new Chery models to sell in late 2008
Shanghai, June 27 (Gasgoo.com) After its 100,000km continuous testing wound up in Beijing on June 25, the new Chery A3 sedan model will be put on sale as soon as next month. In the second half of 2008 the homegrown Chinese carmaker will put onto the market three new models: an A3 sedan, an A3 hatchback and one of the five compact cars in the new Faira range, said an executive of Chery Auto at the testing-end ceremony.
The Chery A3 sedan will be the first of the three new Chery models to hit the market later this year as a third-generation family sedan. It will be more expensive than the Chery A5 now on sale, and its safety features have been greatly upgraded -- in the crash test Chery A3 has reached the five-star auto safety standard. It also has many high-end configurations and will be the first ESP-equipped Chery vehicle.
The A3 is the third model in Chery's A series (after A1 and A5) and is a landmark in Chery's history as the carmaker's one millionth vehicle that has rolled off line. The Pininfarina-designed Chey A3 sedan has fused the elegant European styling with dynamic fashion for comfort. The sedan will be available in the market in July at the earliest, priced from 70,000 yuan ($10,190) to 110,000 yuan.
