Fiat supplies 4,350 eco-friendly engines to Beijng buses
Shanghai, July 3 (Gasgoo.com) Fiat Powertrain Technologies, a company belonging to the Fiat Group, has supplied the Beijing Public Transport Authority with around 4,350 environmentally-friendly engines so far, Chinese media sina.com said yesterday.
Of these engines, 1,450 are compressed natural gas engines and 2,900 are clean diesel engines. The engines are expected to help Beijing to realize its promise of achieving the first "zero emission" Olympic Games in the event's history at Beijing Olympic venues this summer.
Fiat Powertrain Technologies-made natural gas engines are among the cleanest engines today and they can dramatically reduce the noise of vehicles in which they are installed. Thanks to a stoichiometric combustion process, based on a suitable air/fuel ratio and an exhaust gas three-way catalytic post-treating system, they are able to comply with the strictest Euro 5 emission standards, according to the company's statement.
