Interpret Li Shufu’s Empire Dream: Internationalization, Modularization and Youth

Gasgoo (Shanghai, October 31)— Geely’s fourth auto brand, LYNK & CO was officially launched in Berlin, showing a clear picture of Li Shufu’s auto empire dream.

Li said, “The auto industry is undergoing great changes, in which traditional auto companies are facing huge challenges from Internet and software companies.” Obviously, the young LYNK & CO is born for the future. “LYNK & CO embodies not only the concept of a traditional auto company, but combines the strengths of traditional auto companies and absorbs the demands from Internet companies. Therefore, I believe the product is a cross-age product, and can really represent the current auto industry’s developments.”

It is the LYNK & CO’s CMA structure that makes Li so confident. Designing by structures instead of platforms is one important trend of future auto industry, greatly represented by Volkswagen’s MQB.

“Compared with Volkswagen’s MQB, CMA is a newly-developed technology, and will suffer fewer limits and produce more models.” Mats F Gerha said on April, 2014, the day before Beijing Auto Show. “CMA structure can equip diversified powertrains, electrical systems, passive and active safe technologies. Benefited from CEVT’s attention on digital simulation, the structure itself has more excellent quality and faster producing time than original auto platforms.” Li Shufu added that, “The flexible CMA can update itself, just like computer software, which is the first in auto history.”

On September, 2013, China Euro Vehicle Technology (CEVT) was officially constructed. After a three-year time, the center has attracted nearly 2,000 employees from 25 countries, becoming one of the 15 largest companies in Gothenburg.

Three important figures, CEVT’s CEO Mats F Gerha, person in charge of CEVT’s designing center Peter Horbury and LYNK & CO’s senior vice president Alain Visser, are invited to join the brand. In fact, Europe is LYNK & CO’s expected second battlefield, second by America. The brand is gradually stepping into an international brand.
