Volvo Factory makes a first entry of Industry 4.0 Era

On November 18th, Volvo officially released a new flagship luxury model S90, equipping with T4/T5 powertrain, on the Guangzhou Auto Show. The models are priced at RMB 389,800 to 579,800, receiving great attention since being launched. The released price is lower than expected prices, but the model shows Volvo’s development trend of entering Industry 4.0 Era. According to Volvo’s introduction, the S90 long wheelbase luxury car is not a simple domestic one, but one model which faces high-end market. The setting price is positioned between Benz C-class car and E-class car, but more approaching E-class cars. Seen from indicators, the S90 has similar parts with E-class long-wheelbase models, especially in sizes and 2.0T engine power. Different from Benz E-class long-wheelbase models, S90 shows highlights in Pilot Assist self-driving assistance systems, City Safety systems and so on. Volvo Daqing Factory, the production base for S90, shoulders the burden of leading Volvo into a Industry 4.0 Era. In the past several years, the whole nation is discussing about the Industry 4.0 Era but Volvo has made a step on the road. The plan of production lines in Daqing Base is all practiced according to Industry 4.0 Era standards. Most techniques in Daqing Base are constructed based on the information system. Intelligentalization in advance brings higher quality and efficiency. Therefore, Daqing Factory is called the “Volvo’s global pioneer factory”, setting technological foundation for Volvo’s future developments.
