People can Drive BYD Song DM Freely for 5 Years

SHANGHAI May 2nd, 2017 Gasgoo – 2017 Shanghai Auto Show has just come to an end. The biggest difference comparing with auto shows before is that, new energy vehicles were concentrated displayed. There were over 190 new energy cars debut in this show, and BYD, the automaker which has leaded new energy car market for years, even start to adopt a “Driving by Free” concept for new energy cars.

Automakers Focus on New Energy vehicles

It has been required by policies that, the limiting value of fuel and oil consumption should be declined to 5.0L/100km form 6.9L/100km of 2015, an annual decreasing amplitude of about 6.2%. The targets for average fuel consumption set up by Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the PRC (MIIT) from 2015 to 2020 are 6.9L/100km, 6.7L/100km, 6.4L/100km, 6L/100km, 5.5L/100kmand 5L/100km respectively.

Because the pure electric driving mileage of new energy vehicles which is above 50km is 5 time counted into the average fuel consumption (it was 3 times before 2017 and from 2018-2019, 2 times in 2020), to develop new energy vehicles become urgent with lowly-developed traditional fuel technology. And as the folds of calculation method decreased, requirements for sales of new energy vehicles are higher and higher. In this case, automakers begin to list new energy vehicles with great power.

BYD Listed New Plug-in Hybrid Car Song DM

BYD listed Song DM, a brand new plug-in hybrid SUV, in Shanghai Auto Show. The car still adopts BYD’s “542 Strategy” proposed by BYD earlier and is a new energy product with good performance and few fuel consumption.

According to the data announced by BYD, there are two modes of Song DM——HEV and EV, its constant speed of pure electric driving mileage can be 80km, leading the industry level. Its total power can be 333kW and its total torque can be 740N·m. The acceleration time for hundred kilometers of Song DM can be 4.9s while its comprehensive fuel consumption is only 1.4L.

It is noticeable that BYD announced a subsidy policy on the new conference of April 17th, which provides 10 thousand yuan subsidy for electric charge of its first 10 thousand users. The electric covered by these subsidies can drive Song DM for over 85 thousand kilometers, which is equal to a 5-year travelled distance for normal users.
