GAC Trumpchi enters into middle-and-high-end BEV SUV market

Shanghai July 24st, 2017 Gasgoo-Data shows that GAC Trumpchi has a total sales volume of 250,000 units in the first half of year, increasing 57% year-on-year and accomplishing 50.2% of its annual target.

Its first “BEV connected-SUV model” GE3 was officially launched on July 21th. Xiao Yong, Vice General Manager of GAC Motor said during interview that GE3 is entering into a blue-ocean market, meeting demands for high-quality SUV models.

He also mentioned that the sales price of RMB 100,000 will divide SUV models into two camps. It’s expected that there are three competitors in SUV markets with price higher than RMB 100,000 units, and GAC Trumpchi will be one of them.

GAC alternative energy vehicle industrial park starts operation in April this year, with a total investment exceeding RMB 45b. The factory is expected to start operation in August, with an investment of RMB 4.7b and annual capacity of 200,000 units.

It’s also said that GAC Trumpchi will launch GS6PHEV at the end of year. In the future, it will launch BEV models covering markets from A0-class to C-class, to accelerate the development for GAC Motor.
