Baidu and JAC Cooperate to Develop Self-piloting Vehicles and Achieve Mass Production in 2019

Shanghai, August 30, Gasgoo - JAC Auto delivers 32 JAC Refine S3 to Baidu for the collecting data of high-precision maps on August 29th. It’s revealed for the first time that JAC Auto has become the first batch of partners for Baidu Apollo self-piloting platforms. Baidu will provide key data to JAC Auto.

It’s also said that Baidu will equip the self-piloting functions on mass-production models in the latter half of 2019. The self-piloting function reaches level 3 now and is expected to reach level 4 in the year 2025. Currently, self-piloting technologies researched by most auto companies are in level 2, being able to provide help for many driving operations according to driving environments. Level 3 means that self-piloting system could accomplish all the driving operations by itself.

High-precision maps are the key for self-piloting vehicles. It could plan routines precisely and give data feedback when the signal is bad. The high-precision map collected by Baidu is drawn mainly by national high-speed roads and urban express ways, with precision rate reaching 95%.

The fact that JAC will provide vehicles for Baidu to draw high-precision maps predicts that the two sides will conduct in-depth cooperation in self-piloting area. We will expect for the new models with self-piloting technologies.
