BMW Brilliance battery center will be inaugurated in October with annual capacity of 33,000 sets

Shanghai (Gasgoo)-BMW Brilliance has begun the R&D on alternative energy vehicles and established the high-voltage power battery laboratory in 2011. Recently, it’s learned from official news that BMW Brilliance Shenyang Power Battery Center will be inaugurated on October 24th, further enlarging BMW Brilliance’s competitive strength in alternative energy area. Currently, BMW Brilliance chose the local company CATL Battery as the battery provider. It will be the first domestic luxury auto manufacturer to establish high-voltage power battery production line.

According to previous information, BMW Brilliance’s power battery assembling workshop will construct new factories in the current production zone and increase equipment to provide power for alternative energy vehicles. The project occupies a total area of 6,480 square meters with a total investment of RMB 324.13m to produce high-voltage battery sets for G38, with the annual capacity of 33,000 sets.

530Le will be made on the CLAR platform, just as the new 5-series. The new model will be basically the same in exterior appearance with ordinary gasoline-version model and be launched in the first half of next year. The new model will equip with 2.0T engines and a motor engine. The 2.0T engine will have the maximum power of 138KW and fastest speed of 225KM/H. The oil consumption per every hundred kilometers reaches only 2.0L for the new model.
