Changan suffers September Sales decline year on year, even CS sells more than 60,000 units monthly

Shanghai (Gasgoo)-On Oct. 9, Changan Automobile officially announced its September output and sales report, showing that its total sales in September reached 262,070 units, with a month-on-month growth of 28%, while a year-on-year decrease of 11.23%. In the previous nine months, the cumulative sales dropped 6.3% year on year to 2,058,204 units.

As the first independent vehicle brand whose output and sales volume both exceed one million units, the sales decline of Changan passenger vehicle drew much public attention. By making arduous efforts, a variety of Changan models started to see a significant sales growth month on month since sales of Changan started to grow again in August.  Among them, the total sales of CS series exceed 60,000 units, increasing 30% month on month, and 16% year on year.

In terms of SUV, the CS75 played an important role in sales of Changan, boasting sales of 26,581 units in September with a month-on-month increase of 39%. A compact SUV model, the CS55, made a breakthrough again with September sales up to 14,938 units. Sales of the CS35 reached 14,705 units with a growth of 13% month on month. After two-month decline, the CS15 sold 14,705 units with a growth of 62% month on month. However, sales of the Changan CS95 in September only reached 838 units. In addition, the sales of CX70 soared 160% to 4,737 units in September.

In terms of sedan, sales of EADO Series began to grow, surging 101% month on month to 8,470 units. In terms of MPV, Ou Shang performed relatively stable with monthly sales of 7,085 units.

As for the joint venture brands, the sales of Changan Ford in September reached 83,104 vehicles, a decline of 13% compared with the same period last year. Changan Mazda sold 19,265 units in September with a slight drop of 2.8% compared with the same period last year. At present, it is difficult for Changan Mazda to achieve its annual sales target of 300,000 units. The sales of Jiangling in September reached 31,150 units, achieving a growth of 5% year on year.

What's worth mentioning, the new energy vehicles also made contributions to the sales of Changan automobile. Data showed Changan sold 6,192 units of NEVs in September, and the cumulative sales reached 35,073 units this year.
