Didi establishes AI Labs for development of smart transportation

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Didi Chuxing, Chinese ride-hailing giant, has set up Artificial Intelligence Labs (AI Labs) in Beijing to scale up study in forward-looking artificial intelligence technology and push the frontiers of global smart transportation technology. This is the latest expansion of Didi’s R&D network after Didi Research Institute and Didi U.S. Labs.

Led by Ye Jieping, vice president of Didi, AI Labs boasts over 200 scientists and engineers engaging in the research of AI technologies. It is said the scale will be further expanded this year.

AI Labs will focus on the study and application of machine learning, natural language processing, voice recognition, computer vision, statistics and other innovative technologies.

According to Ye, AI Labs will also try to accelerate the integration between technology and data resources, application scenarios and to promote the further application and innovation of AI technologies in intelligent travelling scenarios. Ye revealed that since big data and AI are the innovative technologies for the future transportation, Didi has put active layout in these areas for a long time. Didi will take advantage of the technology from the labs to improve user experience.
