Wu Zhenhao to serve as president of China Operations for Polestar

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Wu Zhenhao, Head of Asia Pacific Product & Offer of Volvo Car Group, will take the post of president of China Operations for Polestar. The personnel change was announced inside Volvo, and is expected to be released by Polestar later today.

Public information shows that Wu Zhenhao joined Volvo Car Group in 2013. During 2013 and 2014, he worked as vice president of strategy department of Volvo China. He served as director of product strategy of Volvo China during 2014 and 2015. From 2016 till now, he took charge as vice president of product department of Volvo in the Asia-Pacific region and has played a crucial role in such areas as autonomous driving, electric vehicles, connected vehicles and digitalization.

Shen Feng, former global CTO of Polestar, president of Polestar China, and former president of Volvo Cars China R&D, joined NIO at the end of 2017. At that time, Volvo announced that Lars Danielson, chairman of Polestar, would succeed Shen Feng temporarily and take charge of the daily operation for Polestar China. However, the formal successor still remained to be determined. 

Polestar was acquired by Volvo on July 16, 2015. On Oct. 17, 2017, Volvo announced that Polestar would be its new and independent high-performance electric vehicle brand and also released a plan of three new models under Polestar. Its first model, the Polestar 1 will be manufactured at Polestar assembly plant in Chengdu and planned to roll off the production line in the middle of 2019.

The second mass-produced model will be the Polestar 2, which is a pure electric compact sedan. Once released, it will take on the Tesla Model 3. To be based on the same CMA platform as the Lynk & Co 01 and the Volvo XC40, the model will have a presale price of 40,000 euros (around RMB 310,000). The Polestar 2 is expected to be unveiled in 2019 and put into production in 2020. Both of the two models will reportedly be manufactured in Chengdu, Sichuan Province in China.
