Ford posts YoY sales slump of 30% in China for February

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Ford Motor Company announced on Mar. 9 that it delivered 47,438 vehicles in China for February with a slump of 30% over the previous year. During the past two months of 2018, its cumulative sales exceeded 123,000 units, shrinking 23% from a year earlier.

Changan Ford sold around 31,000 units in February with a YoY fall of 27%. Cumulative sales in the past two months reached more than 78,000 units, reducing 28% compared with the same period last year.

JMC posted a YoY sales fall of 39% to nearly 13,000 units. During the first two months of 2018, sales of JMC reached around 35,000 units with a YoY drop of 14%.

In February, deliveries of the Lincoln brand totaled nearly 2,700 units, down 9% on an annual basis. Its cumulative sales in the first two months reached almost 7,700 units, flat with the same month last year.

When it comes to specific models, deliveries of the Ford Tourneo saw large YoY sales surge in both February and the first two months of 2018, which are respectively 56% and 80%. The Lincoln Continental 2 continued to see consecutive YoY sales growth in February. During the past two months of 2018, sales of the model reached more than 1,800 units, soaring 69% compared to the year before.

By the end of 2025, Ford Motor Company will introduce more than 50 new models into the Chinese market, including eight new SUV models under Ford and Lincoln as well as 15 new BEV models. Among them, the first batch of new models will hit the market later this year.
