Geely Meishan plant to produce first Lynk & Co branded 7-seat mid-to-large SUV
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Chinese automaker Geely Auto is soliciting bids for its new assembly plant located in Meishan of Beilun District, Ningbo, Zhejiang Province (hereinafter referred to as Meishan Plant),which is scheduled to start construction in November this year, according to a bidding announcement released by the automaker.
Reportedly, the Meishan Plant's first model to be produced is a 7-seat mid-full size SUV code-named EX11 under the Lynk & Co brand, which is expected to carry a four-wheel drive hybrid power system. Meanwhile, such powertrain will be undergoing various tests for three months, while its final application in new models still remains unknown.
In addition, the new plant is set to manufacture another two new models including a mid- to large-sized car model code-named ES11, according to a source with relevant knowledge of this matter.
As the bidding announcement said, Geely Auto's Meishan Plant, covering an area of 1883.9mu and involving an investment of RMB3.4 billion in total, is designed to develop Lynk & Co branded vehicles based on the SPA (scalable product architecture), a global full-size unibody automobile platform shared with Volvo Cars. Going forward, more and more new models will be put into production here to satisfy increasingly more diversified consumers' demands.
The announcement also reveals that the Meishan Plant is expected to be put into operation at the end of 2019 or in early 2020.
