SAIC Motor, China Mobile team up to develop 5G ICV

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- SAIC Motor and China Mobile reached a strategic cooperation agreement on November 6 to co-develop China’s first volume 5G ICV (Internet-connected vehicle) model. They are ambitious to give impetus to the upgrading of ICV technologies and energize China’s auto industry with 5G communication technology.

Under the new agreement, both companies plan to develop an ICV model based on tailor-made services and ecosystem designed for vehicle-using scenarios and actively boost the mass production of the first 5G ICV. To offer mobility services abroad, they will jointly work on data management & operation and car-borne network access.

SAIC Motor and China Mobile aim to build a space-ground integrated positioning enhancement network to endow applications of intelligent driving and mobile travelling with the high-precision positioning feature. Besides, they will join hands to create and operate an intelligent mobility service cloud platform and share relevant data together.

By using 5G technologies, the automaker and wireless carrier are going to digitalize the facilities for intelligent factories with the aim of promoting industrial network construction regarding intelligent manufacturing businesses. In addition, two companies plan to co-develop such AI abilities as intelligent research and semantic analysis based on cloud computing technology and big data.
