Changan Automobile posts 40.1% YoY plunge in January sales
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd (Changan Automobile) said its vehicle sales in January amounted to 141,735 units, plunging 40.1% over a year ago and dropping 10.4% compared with the previous month.
However, speaking of the retail sales, the automaker delivered 196,478 vehicles in the first month of 2019, among which 146,965 units came from Changan-branded vehicles.
The deliveries of the CS75 jumped 19.4% from a month ago to 20,760 units. Besides, 20,334 units of the CS55 were handed over to consumers with an impressive month-on-month growth of 24.8%. The total deliveries of the CS35 and the CS35 PLUS also exceeded 20,000 units, leaping 41.8% from the previous month.
The EADO series, the sales mainstay of Chang-branded sedans, saw its retail sales substantially rose 26.5% from a month earlier to 14,875 units. This sedan series, currently containing the Changan EADO, the EADO DT, the EADO XT and the EADO EV, obtained a sales volume of 110,200 units last year with a year-on-year growth of 16.5%.
In 2019, Changan Automobile is going to roll out a number of new models, including the long-anticipated CS85.
Compared with the same period a year ago, major joint ventures all suffered significant drop. Both Changan Ford and Changan Mazda faced year-on-year plunge of over 40%. Particularly, Changan Ford had met a 30.8% slump in January 2018 from the same period in 2017.
