NIO delivers 1,089 ES8 SUVs in May
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- NIO delivered 1,089 units of the ES8 all-electric SUV in May, which made the deliveries for the first two months of the second quarter (Q2) totaled 2,213 units, the China-based EV startup announced on June 4 via the United States Securities and Exchange Commission.
By the end of May, NIO has so far handed over a total of 17,550 ES8s since the EV model hit the market in June of 2018.
William Li, founder, chairman and CEO of NIO, said that the Q2 ES8 deliveries are expected to approach or exceed the company’s prior delivery targets between 2,800 units and 3,200 units.
It is roughly estimated that the Jan.-April ES8 deliveries have already exceeded that of the Volvo XC90. According to local media outlets, the startup set an annual sales target for 2019 between 40,000 units and 50,000 units.
Apart from the ES8, NIO's second SUV production model, the ES6, officially rolled off the production line at the JAC NIO Advanced Manufacturing Center on May 28. The new model is slated to begin delivery to users in the second half of June.
At the Auto Shanghai 2019, the EV maker offered the first glimpse of its all-new sedan product series with the ET Preview. The first model of the new series is going to make its debut at the NIO Day kicking off on December 15, 2019.
