BYD Song Pro to go on sale in mid-July with three types of powertrain

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- The BYD Song Pro, the longer version of the Song SUV under BYD's Dynasty series, is going to hit the market in the middle of July, according to local media outlets. Before that, the automaker has started receiving the orders of the new model on June 1.

The Song Pro will reportedly be offered in three powertrains—internal combustion engine, plug-in hybrid power system (namely, the DM version) as well as the all-electric drivetrain. Presale prices of the fuel-burning version range between RMB110,000 and RMB130,000, while the DM (dual-mode) model is priced from RMB180,000 and RMB20,000 after subsidy. 

The BYD Song Pro is designed by an international team under the leadership of former Audi AG head designer Wolfgang Egger. Adopting BYD’s latest “Dragon Face 2.0” design language, the new SUV features an unmistakable massive hexagonal grille.

As to the side profile, the squarish overall design is quite in tune with its SUV position. A character line that swoops from the front of the vehicle to the rear, creating an image of constant motion even when still.

The BYD Song Pro measures 4,650mm long, 1,860mm wide and 1,700mm tall, compared with 4,600-mm length and 1,860-mm width for the existing BYD Song. Wheelbase of the new SUV is 2,712mm, which is 52mm longer than the outgoing model.

Featuring a cleaner interior, the Song Pro is fitted with a 12.8-inch adaptive rotatable floating display. The DiLink2.0 in-car intelligent system is compatible with a number of apps and supports the OTA update and the smart voice interaction system. In addition, the Song Pro is equipped with the L2 Plus driving assistance system that is available for the ACC-S&G (adaptive cruise control stop-&-go), the LDWS (lane departure warning system) and the BSD (blind spot detection), etc.

Satisfying the China Stage 6B Emission Standard, the oil-fueled version carries a 1.5TI engine that pumps out 118kW and peak torque of 245N·m, mated with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Besides, the Song Pro DM sports an all-time four-wheel drivetrain that churns out a combined power and peak torque up to 238kW and 525N·m with a combined fuel consumption of 1.4 litre per 100km. Using the EV-only mode, the DM version will have a range of 81km. Moreover, the Song Pro EV features a 502-km combined range and is able to travel 100km after a 15-minute charge.
