Geely-backed ECARX teams up with Tencent on connectivity service, AI, cloud tech

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- ECARX Technology (ECARX), a connectivity company invested by Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, on June 25 signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Tencent Auto Intelligence (TAI), an automobile AI arm of China's Internet giant Tencent, according to Geely Holding’s official WeChat account.

Both parties agreed to conduct in-depth collaboration in intelligent-connected services, the user operation, AI and cloud technologies.

According to Geely's press release, TAI is dedicated to assisting automobile companies with the transformation in the aspect of digitalization and automobile intelligence by virtue of Internet technologies. It's making joint efforts with partners to promote the construction of IoV ecosystem by offering the cross-platform, cross-terminal tool chain featuring lightweight and ecologicalization.

Besides, based on an unified account system, AI & cloud capabilities, TAI aims to be the go-between among users' interests, vehicular scenarios and ecological services in a bid to provide the scenario-driven cloud-based services for users.

Under the partnership, two companies intend to develop a solution that fully absorbs TAI’s automobile intelligent technologies on the basis of the GKUI Geely Smart Ecosystem in which ECARX tailored for Geely-branded vehicles. Moreover, they wish to continuously provide car owners with smart interesting driving experience by carrying out in-depth cooperation and innovative upgrade in LBS (location-based service), AI, content ecosystem and mobility social platform.

In terms of the cooperation on products, both parties are ready to jointly research the users' demands and pain points based on various scenarios to constantly improve their products' competitiveness. On the other hand, they will also join hands to explore all-new business models and scenario-based services.
