Dongfeng Motor, Tencent join hands to deepen deployment in smart mobility service, ICV

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Dongfeng Motor Corporation and Shenzhen Tencent Computer Systems Co.,Ltd (Tencent Computer) on June 28 forged a strategic partnership to jointly build a new ecosystem of “automobile industry Internet”, according to Dongfeng Motor's WeChat account.

Based on the partnership, Dongfeng Motor and Tencent Computer will carry out cooperation in seven key domains, including connected vehicle, automobile safety, autonomous driving, smart mobility service, intelligent logistics, joint innovation and digital transformation, by means of capital collaboration, strategic alliance and other concrete programs.

Both parties intend to co-explore the cooperative models in capital area on the basis of joint efforts over the aforesaid seven domains. Besides, an industrial fund focusing on digital business is set to be established in a bid to deepen and widen the collaboration.

In the meantime, both companies announced the establishment of a joint innovation lab, which is designed to research automobile-related cutting-edge technologies.

Dongfeng Motor said, forming the alliance with Tencent is a critical step in deploying intelligent vehicle business and smart mobility service.

The Chinese Internet giant Tencent said it would build a human-centric smart mobility ecosystem and was dedicated to becoming the “digital assistant” that boosts the transformation for automotive mobility industry. It regards the partnership with Dongfeng as a further march towards the smart mobility ecosystem.

Tencent is accelerating its deployment in this fast-growing field. On June 26, GAC Group officially launched its mobility service platform ON TIME, which also abosorbs the investment from Tencent.
