Geely Automobile's year-to-date sales exceed 1 million units as of October
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Geely Automobile Holding Limited (Geely Automobile or the Group) said on Wednesday that it sold 130,180 vehicles (including Lynk & Co-branded vehicles) in October, gaining a year-on-year growth of roughly 1% after a three-consecutive-month downturn. Compared with September, the automaker achieved a double-digit increase of 14%.
Among vehicles sold last month, 10,294 units were new energy and electrified vehicles (NEVs), keeping rising from a monthly low of 4,476 units for July, the first month after the new stricter NEV subsidy policy coming into effect.
The hottest-selling NEEV models in October were the Emgrand GL PHEV, the Jiaji MHEV and the Geometry A, which together accounted for around 66% of the total NEEV sales.
Besides, the group saw its Oct. export volume skyrocketed 124% over the previous year to 2,986 units. Meanwhile, its sales volume in China market amounted to 127,194 units, almost remaining flat over the year-ago period.
Given the prolonged downturn in China's auto market, the Group's determination to reduce dealers' inventories and the uncertainty in PV market, Geely Automobile previously lowered its 2019 sales target to 1.36 million units from 1.51 million units. With 1,088,290 vehicles sold so far this year, the automaker has fulfilled 80% of its revised goal.
Geely said the Oct. sales volume of the Emgrand family totaled 36,664 units, of which 18,379 units, 12,104 units and 6,181 units came from the new Emgrand sedan, the Emgrand GS crossover SUV and the Emgrand GL sedan respectively. With 7,388 units and 7,621 units sold, the Vision sedan and the Vision SUV together took up 53.23% of the Vison series' total sales.
Moreover, the automaker also sold in October 21,396 Boyue SUVs, 12,571 Binyue SUVs, 7,763 Binrui sedans and 3,104 Jiaji MPVs. The sales volume of the Xingyue crossover SUV was 3,335 units, a record high since its launch in May 2019.
Lynk & Co brand saw its Oct. sales reach 14,038 units, the highest level for the past twelve months. The Chinese-Swedish auto brand has released the photos of the Lynk & Co 05 coupe SUV, which is said to hit the market in the first half of 2020 (photo source: Geely Automobile).
