FAW-Volkswagen 2019 YTD production and sales both exceed 2 mln units

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- FAW-Volkswagen saw its 2 millionth vehicle in 2019 roll off the production line at Changchun plant on December 27. Thanks to the joint efforts of its five bases across the country, the Changchun-headquartered joint venture becomes the first and only passenger vehicle producer in 2019 whose production and sales were over 2 million units respectively.

In 2019, the company’s three brands—the VW brand, Audi brand and Jetta brand—launched more than 10 new models, including new SUVs and new energy models. The VA3 and the VS5 under the third sub-brand Jetta launched in February this year expanded the JV’s product portfolio. Besides, the construction of its automobile test field and ICV (Internet connected vehicle) simulation R&D center will help strengthen the JV’s R&D capability.

It took FAW-VW 11 years to produce 1 million vehicles annually from 100,000 units and only seven years to make 2 million units. The automaker sold 1,895,696 vehicles in the first eleven months. The VW brand, Audi brand and Jetta brand delivered 131,478 units, 67,300 units (+16.9% year on year), 12,078 units respectively in November, while their respective cumulative sales from January to November were 1,249,459 units, 617,533 units (+3.7%) and 28,704 units.
