Mazda sees China retail sales in Jan. fall 8.23%
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Mazda Motor (China) Co.,Ltd. said its new car retail sales in January 2020 amounted to 20,963 units, of which 7,539 units and 13,424 units were from FAW Mazda and Changan Mazda respectively.
Compared to the data the company offered a year ago, Mazda posted a decrease of 8.23% in its China deliveries.

Despite the overall downturn and fewer workdays than the year-ago period, FAW Mazda still net a growth of 7.45% in January. The retail sales of the Mazda6 Atenza and the CX-4 reached 3,699 units and 3,840 units respectively.

Changan Mazda saw its Jan. deliveries slide 15.19% from the previous year. As for specific models, 10,698 and 2,648 consumers in China took delivery of the Mazda3 Axela and the Mazda CX-5.
In 2019, the Japanese automaker delivered 227,750 new vehicles in China market, posting a double-digit drop of 16.4% compared with the year of 2018.
Changan Mazda is ready to locally manufacture the Mazda CX-30, a small-sized SUV positioned between the CX-3 and the CX-5. Powered by the latest SKYACTIV-X engine, the homegrown CX-30 is said to hit the market in the second-half of 2020, competing with such models as the Honda Vezel, the Toyota C-HR and the TACQUA.
Mazda unveiled the MX-30, its first mass-produced BEV model, at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show. Powered by a 35.5kWh, the all-electric model only features a range of 209km. However, the MX-30 won't be introduced to China as the range is somewhat scant to Chinese consumers. The automaker plans to launch another BEV model dedicated to China market by teaming up with one of its joint ventures.
