Changan Automobile records 87.24% YoY leap in Jan. sales

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd. (Changan Automobile) scored 87.24% year-on-year surge last month with 251,980 vehicles sold. As of Jan. 2020, the automaker's monthly sales had presented year-over-year increase for the tenth month in a row.

All subsidiaries of Changan Automobile obtained sales growth in January. Chongqing Changan was the fastest-growing one with an increase of up to 102.24%. Besides, Hebei Changan, Hefei Changan and Changan Ford all recorded growth of over 75%.

The sales of Changan's self-owned brands soared 93.2% to 200,737 units, of which 153,424 units (+92.5%) were PVs.

The sales of the CS75 amounted to 42,171 units last month, versus 32,759 units sold in last November, the highest monthly figure for the year of 2020. The automaker also sold 12,866 CS55s, 12,229 CS35s and 23,537 Eado sedans.

The Jan. sales of the UNI-T, the first mass-produced model of Changan's premium car sequence “Gravity”, reached 11,868 units. On a monthly basis, the sales surpassed 10,000 units for seven straight months.

The second production model surnamed “UNI” will be the UNI-K, which was unveiled at the Auto Guangzhou 2020 and is expected for sale in the first half of 2021.

Changan Automobile announced its annual net profit attributable to shareholders is forecasted to stand between 2.8 billion yuan ($433.356 million) and 4 billion ($619.08 million), shooting up 205.79%--251.13% over the year-ago period.

The company said the leap in net profit was mainly credited to the auto sales growth, the improved product structure and elevated profitability of both self-owned brands and joint-venture businesses.
