GAC Group records double-digit YoY growth in both Jan. outputs, sales

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- GAC Group announced its auto outputs and sales reached 191,831 units and 217,333 units in January 2021, jumping 39% and 23.29% from a year ago respectively.

Most subsidiaries scored year-on-year growth in Jan. sales. Notably, the growth in GAC Aion's sales stood at up to 150.02%.

Both passenger vehicle (PV) and commercial vehicle (CV) units gained vigorous sales growth last month. PV sales leapt 23.26% from the year-ago period to 217,100 units, including 93,290 sedans (+10.98% YoY), 108,722 SUVs (+29.85% YoY) and 15,088 MPVs (+80.76% YoY).

With 89,800 vehicles sold, GAC Toyota ranked first among subsidiaries by Jan. sales. Its sales also vigorously rose 32.8% year on year. Moreover, GAC Honda also obtained a double-digit increase by selling 77,625 units during the same period.

Last month, GAC Honda sold 10,348 hybrid vehicles, a year-on-year surge of 47.62%, while GAC Honda saw its Jan. hybrid vehicle sales skyrocket 291.35% to 11,451 units.

GAC Motor, GAC Group's wholly-owned PV-focused subsidiary, witnessed its monthly sales climb 5.07% to 34,400 units in Jan., surpassing 30,000 units for the fifth month in a row. The sales of the Trumpchi M8 and the Trumpchi M6 totaled 9,455 units, rocketing 105.1% from the previous year.

At the Auto Guangzhou 2020, GAC Group announced the spin-off of GAC Aion, which is positioned as premium smart EV brand. Last month, the subsidiary was consolidated into the group's sales results.

GAC Aion sold 7,373 new vehicles in January, up 150.02% from the year-ago level. It is worth mentioning that the monthly sales topped 6,000 units for the first time, precipitously rising 130.1%.

According to GAC Group, there were nine models in total whose respective Jan. sales all exceeded 10,000 units, namely the Levin series (29,139 units), the Vezel (21,001 units), the Camry series (20,037 units), the Accord series(19,614 units), the Breeze series (16,904 units), the Trumpchi GS4 series (14,375 units), the Wildlander series (12,271 units), the Highlander (11,499 units) and the YARiS L series (10,415 units).
