Changan Auto Sept. sales recover 14% MoM
Beijing (Gasgoo)- China’s major auto group Changan Automobile witnessed a recovery in its September auto sales result, up 14% comparing to the previous month, while its year-to-date sales volume topped that of last year.
In September, the automaker sold 188,258 vehicles in total, 14% more than August’s 165,143 vehicles, but still 8.41% fewer than a year ago. In the first nine months, its cumulative sales rose 26.36% compared to last year, to over 1.73 million vehicles.
By September, sales of the auto group’s self-owned brands amounted to 1.35 million vehicles, surging 30.55% from 2020. With 928,662 vehicles sold, the group’s self-owned passenger vehicle sector saw a 40.12% rise yearly. Notably, according to official data released by the group, its self-developed UNI series had a cumulative sales volume of 91,000 vehicles by September this year.

The joint venture by Changan Automobile and Ford Motor, Changan Ford, reported a 15.72% year-on-year increase in its monthly sales to 32,090 vehicles, notching up 6% versus August.
In addition, after the acquisition of FAW-Mazda (jointly owned by FAW Group and Mazda Motor) at the end of August, the group’s other joint venture, Changan Mazda, sold 17,357 vehicles combined after its August sales halved year on year to only 5,456 vehicles.
The group’s new energy vehicle (NEV) sales amounted to 71,000 vehicles year-to-date, with its self-owned brands’ NEV sales surpassing 10,000 vehicles in September. Changan Automobile has sold 94,000 vehicles in over 50 countries overseas during the first nine months of this year.
