The Group and its joint ventures in China delivered 2.55 million vehicles in the first three quarters of this year, representing a decrease of 4.1% from a year ago. In September, its deliveries in the largest auto market declined 41.8% year on year to 225,500 units.

According to the company, the group’s new energy vehicle (NEV) sales doubled to over 93,000 vehicles in the first nine months. The battery electric vehicle (BEV) segment took off in the third quarter, with quarterly deliveries of BEVs up to 28,900 units, almost 60 percent higher than in the entire first half of the year. In the first nine months of this year, the group delivered a total of 47,200 BEVs in the country, on track to meeting its annual target of delivering 80,000 to 100,000 vehicles of the ID. model family.

Sales of Volkswagen and Jetta brands fell 5% year on year to over 1.857 million vehicles. The Volkswagen brand delivered 69,600 NEVs in the first nine months, jumping 103.5% year on year. In September alone, monthly sales of the ID. Family surpassed 10,000 vehicles. The ID.3 will go on sale at the end of October.

Audi brand’s sales in China increased 9.9% from a year earlier to 563,600 vehicles, hitting a new high for the first three quarters. The sales of exported Audi-branded vehicles surged 85.6% year on year to 64,200 vehicles while sales of locally-made vehicles were up 4.4% to 498,600 vehicles.

Skoda’s production and deliveries were seriously affected by chip crunch, with only 52,700 vehicles delivered to China’s consumers during the first three quarters.

Porsche’s year-to-date deliveries in China jumped 11% versus the same period of last year to 69,800 vehicles, 5,300 of which were the battery electric Taycan. In the third quarter, the battery electric Taycan’s deliveries exceeded 2,000 units.
