Car and City: March 2022 registrations of Leapmotor models
Beijing (Gasgoo)- In the first three months of 2022, China’s EV startup Leapmotor has achieved substantial growth in registrations compared to a year ago, according to the data compiled by Gasgoo Auto Research Institute (GARI).
In March, the registration volume of Leapmotor equaled 7,747 vehicles across China, fully recovering from the slump in February while surpassing January. During the first three months of this year, the accumulated registration volume of the startup amounted to 18,640 vehicles, skyrocketing 349.37% from the year-ago period.
In March, Leapmotor’s registrations were mainly contributed by its mainstay model, the T03 compact EV. During the month, 4,523 T03s were registered, accounting for 58.38% of the company’s total registrations. Meanwhile, the company’s first production model, the S01, only registered 6 units nationwide.
In the third month of 2022, the homebase of Leapmotor, Hangzhou, won the title of the most registrations in China, with 460 units registered. Taizhou came in second with 406 vehicles registered, while the rest eight cities all reported registrations in the two-hundred tier. Nanning and Zhongshan tied at the tenth place.
Notably, four of the top ten cities are in Zhejiang province, where Leapmotor headquartered, namely Hangzhou, Taizhou, Wenzhou, and Jinhua. The only Northern China city that made it to the top ten list is Tianjin, with 247 units registered.
