Hongqi’s first MPV model HQ9 hits market, starting at 358,800 yuan

Beijing (Gasgoo)- FAW Group’s premium auto brand, Hongqi, officially put its first MPV model, the HQ9, onto the market on September 21. Coming with five trim levels, the HQ9 features a price range of 358,800-538,800 yuan ($50,600-$76,000).

The HQ9 inherits Hongqi’s signature design with a waterfall-typed grille and a red flag symbol in the front. The automaker gives the MPV an innovative seating layout that connects the second-and third-row spaces, with a long rail for seat adjustments, so that the passengers in the second row are able to lay flat. 

Designed beyond the 2021 National Standard C-NCAP, 68% of the HQ9 is composed of ultra-high or high strength steel. The model also holds AEB, nighttime pedestrian recognition, and two-wheeled vehicle recognition capabilities.

In terms of intelligence, the HQ9 is installed with the automaker’s proprietary Hongqi Connect 3.0 system, realizing real-time location sharing service between vehicles and mobile phones. The MPV is compatible with OTA functional upgrades and performance improvement. The HD central control screen allows smooth and quick-response experience. Notably, the second-row seats are newly equipped with intelligent armrest screens that can adjust the seat, air conditioning, lighting, and other common functions with one click.

The new Hongqi HQ9 is equipped with the brand’s self-developed high-efficiency 2.0T engine + 48V mild hybrid system and an 8-speed integrated transmission, offering a maximum power of 185kW and a peak torque of 380N·m.
