China’s Jan.-Oct. deliveries of imported passenger vehicles dip 19.2% YoY
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- For the first ten months of 2022, there were 643,634 imported passenger vehicles (PVs) delivered across China, representing a 19.2% decrease year-over-year, according to Sinomach Automobile Co., Ltd., China's largest dealer of imported vehicles.
To be specific, the Jan.-Oct. imported PV deliveries were composed of 291,545 cars, 328,122 SUVs, and 23,967 MPVs, which fell 17.4%, 21.6%, and 4.9% from the previous year, respectively.

Of the imported PVs delivered in the first ten months of the year, 580,076 units were under luxury car brands, reflecting a 19.1% year-on-year downward movement. Luxury brands hereby consist of Alfa Romeo, Audi, BMW, Porsche, Mercedes Benz, Jaguar, Cadillac, Lexus, Land Rover, Maserati, MINI, Acura, smart, Tesla, Volvo, Infiniti, etc.
Ultra-luxury brands, including Aston Martin, Ferrari, Bentley, Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce, McLaren, etc., saw their combined imported PV deliveries rose 10.3% over a year earlier to 591 units in Oct. mainly thanks to the sales growth achieved by Ferrari and Lamborghini, resulting in a Jan.-Oct. volume of 7,357 units (+8% YoY).
Among the top 10 brands by Oct. sales of imported PVs in China, there were four brands achieving a year-on-year growth, namely, Lexus, Porsche, Land Rover, and MINI. Of them, Lexus was the fastest-growing one. Audi ranked 10th and was confronted with the biggest year-over-year decrease.
In terms of the Jan.-Oct. imported PV deliveries in China, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW were still the top 3 brands. Despite the overall downturn, the year-to-date imported PV deliveries still grew year on year for both Porsche and Toyota brands.
