Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Great Wall Motor (“GWM”) signed a cooperation agreement several days ago with the auto distributor Cycle & Carriage for the plan to bring its intelligent new energy vehicles (NEVs) to the Singaporean auto market, according to a press release GMW issued on Mar. 16 via its WeChat account.

According to Zhang Jiaming, President of Great Wall Motor (ASEAN region), the latest move makes Singapore the newest member of GWM’s ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) family, which has already contained Thailand, Malaysia, Brunei, and Laos.

According to some media outlets, the initial vehicle model to be introduced to Singapore through the cooperation is the Good Cat, a battery electric compact car under GWM’s NEV-dedicated brand ORA.

Cycle & Carriage is a leading automotive group in Southeast Asia. It focuses on distributing and retailing new and used vehicles, and providing relevant aftersales services in Singapore, Malaysia, and Myanmar.

In Feb. 2021, the Chinese automaker officially launched the GWM brand to the Thai market, signing an all-new development stage for the company’s expansion in the ASEAN market. It has had such models as the HAVAL H6 HEV and the ORA Good Cat sold in Thailand.

GWM’s expansion into Thailand and Southeast Asia kicked off in 2020 with establishment of its Rayong plant as a “Smart Factory” that marries state-of-the-art production technology with eco-friendly manufacturing processes.
