Chery Holding boasts 61% YoY surge in Jan.-May 2023 auto sales
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- In the month of May 2023, Chery Holding Group sold 139,172 vehicles, representing a remarkable year-on-year growth of 63%, according to the group’s press release. This marks the twelfth consecutive month in which Chery's monthly sales exceeded 100,000 units.
For the first five months of this year, Chery Holding’s cumulative sales volume amounted to 596,220 vehicles, leaping 61% from a year earlier.
Breaking down the sales data by specific brands, in May, Chery brand sold 103,160 vehicles, an increase of 61.2% compared to the same period last year. From January to May, its sales volume totaled 433,545 vehicles, a year-on-year growth of 55.9%.
EXEED brand sold 7,612 vehicles in May, reflecting a year-on-year spike of 109.2%. In the Jan.-May period, its cumulative sales volume reached 31,980 vehicles, a year-on-year hike of 101.1%.
JETOUR brand sold 19,821 vehicles last month, displaying a 72.1% surge from the previous year. Its year-to-date sales reached 90,774 vehicles, zooming up 97.3% from the year-ago period.
Among Chery Holding's top three sales contributors, namely the TIGGO 8, TIGGO 7, and JETOUR X70, they contributed 17,219 units, 18,976 units, and 10,186 units of sales in May, respectively.

Chery Holding has been accelerating its pace in launching new products and new technologies this year. Just in May, the TIGGO 9, the group’s first production model to ride on Chery’s Mars Architecture-Super Hybrid Platform, hit the market globally. Just three days later, on June 2nd, Chery Holding witnessed the all-new Kunpeng super-performance electric hybrid C-DM-dedicated engines and transmissions roll off line.
By 2024, Chery Holding plans to launch more than 20 C-DM models. Along with the introduction of new all-electric vehicle models by its independent new energy electric vehicle brand, iCAR, the group's comprehensive strategy of new energy vehicles, including multiple scenarios, brands, and technological routes, is being fully implemented.
