Shanghai, July 9 (Gasgoo.com) Geely Automobile posted sales of 121,690 vehicles in the first half of this year, up 11.8% from one year earlier, reported auto.sina.com yesterday according to the latest statistics released by Geely Auto Sales Co.

Sales of Geely KingKong and Vision models increased by 65.83% and 220.99% respectively, significantly exceeding the sales target of the first half set by Geely Automobile Holdings Ltd.

Since the beginning of 2008, China's emerging auto market has been hit by a succession of natural disasters, such as snowstorms, Sichuan earthquake, flooding, oil price hike and declining stock market, all of which led to consumer confidence slump.

Moreover, the surging prices of raw materials add greater pressure to the auto industry, which has seen passenger vehicles sales go down for three straight months since April.

However, Geely Automobile, a private Chinese automaker starting with manufacturing bicycles and motor scooters, is still maintaining its positive momentum even in such an unfavorable situation. The company's sales reached 17,562 units in June, up 4% from May.
