Geely Holding boasts 22.2% YoY jump in May 2024 auto sales

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Zhejiang Geely Holding Group ("Geely Holding") announced last Sunday that its automobile sales volume reached around 256,556 units in the fifth month of 2024, jumping 22.2% year on year (YoY).

Of the vehicles the group sold last month, 110,681 units were contributed by new energy vehicles (NEVs), representing a YoY surge of 59% and accounting for 43.1% of Geely Holding's overall auto sales in the month.

For the first five months of 2024, Geely Holding recorded a cumulative sales volume of 1,230,162 vehicles, registering a 27.9% rise over a year earlier.

Geely Holding encompasses key automotive entities such as Geely Auto Group, Volvo Cars, PROTON, Lynk & Co, Lotus Cars, Polestar, LEVC (London EV Company), smart, RADAR, and Farizon Auto.

Geely Auto Group, comprising Geely (including Galaxy range), Lynk & Co, and ZEEKR brands, reported a sales volume of 160,658 units for the month of May 2024, witnessing a 38% YoY leap. In the month, its new energy vehicle sales amounted to 58,673 units, surging 146% from a year earlier. Meanwhile, its monthly export volume soared 68% from a year earlier to 36,890 units.

Breaking down the performance of individual brands within Geely Auto Group, Geely brand's sales reached 120,264 units in May, showing an upward movement of 30% over the previous year. Lynk & Co achieved a monthly sales figure of 21,778 units, which zoomed up 50% year over year. Notably, ZEEKR demonstrated a remarkable YoY spike of 115%, with a total delivery volume of 18,616 units in the month.

In addition, Volvo Cars, part of the Geely Holding Group, recorded a global sales volume of 68,034 units (+13% YoY) in May. Notably, the carmaker's NEV sales stood at 32,768 units in the month, reflecting a 37% YoY growth.

PROTON logged a sales volume of 12,522 vehicles last month, indicating a 13.6% month-on-month growth. For the first five months, the automaker's export volume soared 63.9% over a year earlier.
