Gecko Motors signs MoU to set up first West Africa plant in Ghana

Beijing (Gasgoo)-On June 15, Gecko Motors, Chinese new energy commercial vehicle company, hosted a delegation from Ghana's Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness & Industry  at its special-purpose vehicle production park in the Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone, according to a post on Gecko Motors' WeChat account.

During the visit, Gecko Motors signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Eco-Drive Ltd., marking its official entry into the Ghanaian market. With this agreement, Gecko Motors becomes the first Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer to establish a presence in Ghana.

This strategic move represents Gecko Motors's inaugural foray into the African market and a pivotal milestone in its broader global expansion. The collaboration signals the company's commitment to international capacity synergy and localized strategy, laying a solid foundation for deeper integration into the global NEV supply chain.

"Gecko Motors is honored to bring a range of new energy commercial vehicle products—including the EV48, EV70, and MAGICWAY—to Ghana," Peng Jinzhou, CEO of Gecko Motors, said at the signing ceremony. "We are committed to supporting the country's transition toward greener, more sustainable transportation and logistics. Going forward, we will leverage our technical expertise in the NEV commercial sector to better serve local markets and contribute to the high-quality development of the global NEV industry."

Gecko Motors has recently ramped up its overseas strategy with a string of notable achievements. At its latest product showcase event in Shanghai, the company unveiled advancements in smart technologies, skateboard chassis platforms, and NEV offerings to industry clients from Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. The event drew strong interest and recognition from international partners.

In South America, Gecko Motors is also making significant progress. The company has initiated business ties with partners in Chile and Mexico, successfully completing the delivery of the first-batch order. Local distributors have actively promoted Gecko Motors at regional expos and industry summits, highlighting the brand's vision and product strengths and providing fresh momentum to its global growth.

Simultaneously, Gecko Motors has upgraded its intelligent production line to accommodate regular visits from overseas clients.
