Beijing Off-Road puts BJ40's oil-fueled version onto market

Beijing (Gasgoo)–On July 19, Beijing Off-Road held the market launch event for the BJ40 model's oil-fueled version in Hebei Province's Zhangjiakou. Positioned as an all-terrain, professional-grade off-road SUV, the oil-fueled BJ40 comes in three variants—Standard Gasoline, Advanced Gasoline, and Diesel—priced between 149,900 yuan and 159,900 yuan.

Two limited-edition commemorative versions were also introduced: the BJ40 Gasoline 60th Anniversary Off-Road Edition and the BJ40 Gasoline 40th Anniversary Rock Edition, each priced at 166,566 yuan, with production limited to 60 and 40 units respectively.

The BJ40's fuel version retains its iconic boxy silhouette, featuring a 1:1 width-to-height ratio that delivers a rugged yet stylish look. The Advanced Gasoline and Diesel variants measure 4,790 mm in length, 1,940 mm in width, and 1,949 mm in height, with a 2,760 mm wheelbase. The updated model replaces the previously removable three-piece roof with a panoramic sunroof and adds a roof rack for enhanced practicality.

Inside, the new vehicle adopts a dual-screen setup, which features a 12.8-inch central touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, along with a dedicated entertainment display for the front passenger. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor, the vehicle’s infotainment system supports AI-based voice interaction. Additional features include zero-gravity seats, twin 12.8-inch floating displays, and a standard 1.2-square-meter panoramic sunroof across all trims.

Powertrain options include a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline direct-injection engine producing 172 kW and a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine generating 119 kW. The new vehicle also boasts a mechanical full-time four-wheel drive system and triple locking differentials for enhanced off-road capability. Notably, a front axle differential lock and a 2.5-tonne towing capacity are standard across the lineup.
