First vehicles roll off line in Guangxi Beibuwan Bay
Shanghai, July 14 (Gasgoo.com) The first auto manufacturer in the Beibuwan Economic Zone in southern Chinese region of Guangxi started operation on July 13, when its first batch of vehicles rolled off line and were delivered to customers, said xinhuanet.com today.
This Beihai city-based auto manufacturing project invested by Guilin Fuda Group Co., Ltd. will make 20,000 special vehicles annually at its first phase, including low-speed farm-use trucks as well as construction cranes, emergency service vans and sanitation vehicles. The auto production facility was put into operation only one year after its construction kicked off in mid-July 2007.
Industry experts said that both the low-speed vehicle series and special vehicle series are auto products supported by the Chinese government. Special vehicles account for 60-70% of the carrier vehicles in foreign countries. The two vehicle series have huge potentials in the home market and the Southeast Asian markets. Guangxi is the only region in China that can provide access by land and sea to Southeast Asian countries.
Carmaking is a staple industry in Gunagxi, which produced 600,000 vehicles and generated 50 billion yuan ($7.31 billion) in auto sales revenues in 2007. Small cars and medium-duty trucks, as the two major vehicle product lineups in the region, will be produced in the Beibuwan manufacturing base, which is an important part of Guangxi's auto industry.
The auto production base in southern China's Beibuwan Bay will target at the ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) markets, especially the bordering Vietnam market, in addition to meeting the domestic market demands in southwestern China.
