Toyota H1 China sales rise 47% to 284,000 units
Shanghai, July 16 (Gasgoo.com) Japan's Toyota Motor Corp, through its two joint ventures in China, sold 284,000 vehicles in China in from January to June, up around 47 percent from a year earlier, according to data from China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
FAW Toyota Motor, Toyota Motor's joint venture with China FAW Group Corporation, sold 200,194 vehicles and Guangzhou Toyota Motor, Toyota's jv based in Guangzhou, sold 83,813 vehicles in the period.
Earlier this week, FAW Toyota was reported to set up a new SUV production plant in the northeastern Chinese city of Changchun which, together with the joint venture's other plants in Tianjin and Sichuan, will boost the company's annual production capacity to 650,000 units by 2010.
Guangzhou Toyota will also start to build its second production line in mid-2009, which will raise the company's annual output to 400,000 units eventually.
