Brilliance Junjie cars okayed for export to Germany
Shanghai, July 17 (Gasgoo.com) Brilliance China Automotive Holdings Ltd said yesterday that its 270 Zhonghua Junjie cars (re-designed BS4 sedans) are set to head for Germany as the first batch of this Chinese carmaker's own-brand sedans for export to Europe, reported Shanghai Securities News today. These cars have been examined and permitted by German HSO Auto Trading staffers for export to the European country.
The big export ordering from Germany for Brilliance Auto's Junjie cars indicates that the Chinese carmaker's products can meet all the strict standards in the German market, and set a benchmark for China's self-developed vehicles to follow the global quality and safety requirements.
After the Brilliance car was rated with only one out of five possible stars last year in crash tests carried out by the ADAC German automobile club, the Chinese automaker reworked its security design and, this year, its sedan received an equivalant of three-star ranking in crash tests carried out by Spain's Idiada, an official test house with the European New Car Assessment Program.
Brilliance China, the Chinese partner of BMW AG, aims to sell 30,000 units in overseas markets in 2008, double in 2009, and even more in 2010, said its chairman Qi Yumin. Notably, the company's complete vehicle export surged 79% year on year to 15,500 units in 2007.
At the 78th Geneva Motor Show last month, Brilliance China showed three car models, including Zhonghua Galena 2.0 luxury, Zhonghua Splendor 1.8T AT top-class and Zhonghua Coupe 1.8T MT, as part of its efforts to make inroads into the European continent.
