Shanxi Automobile is looking to expand production
Shanghai, July 17 (Gasgoo.com) Shanxi Automobile Group Co., a Chinese automaker specializing in producing heavy-duty trucks, is planning an expansion program for producing 200,000 vehicles, generating 50 billion yuan by 2010, Fang Hongwei, director of Shanxi Automobile Group Co. announced in a conference held in Shanxi on July15, according to xinhuanet.com.
Shanxi Automobile has become a famous domestic automobile manufacturer by keeping an average increase of 50% annually in recent years. In 2007, the group reached an output of over 68,000 vehicles, with 60,000 heavy-duty trucks which generated over 18 billion yuan.
Backed by strong support from the Shanxi provincial government, Shanxi Automobile aims to produce 100,000 heavy-duty trucks by 2009 and to reach an output of 120,000 units by 2012, according to Fang Hongwei.
Meanwhile, the group will control the share of Oushute Automobile Co to produce complete vehicles and will restart its minicar production in central China, aiming to reach 30,000 units within two years.
